The varied livestock pens always attract lots of attention, I'm always drawn to the Herdwicks !
The depth of talent and the diversity of the crafts employed has you flitting from stand to stand like a demented butterfly, I never have enough time.
The use of new weaving techniques coupled with the application of other substances to wash out parts of the construction, resulting in very open, fluid fabrics was exemplified in different ways by Iona MacKenzie Laycock, www.iona-art.com
and Vivienne Morpeth, www.viviennemorpeth.uk
Both very talented ladies
I was given a demonstration of the art of SAORI weaving by Rosie Green, another lady who is passionate about her craft but in a different way. Saori not only allows you to produce your own individual fabrics, it is also intended to engender a spirit of calmness and well being whilst doing it. A different concept of "there are no mistakes, no set regulations just weave for yourself"
I shall have to give it a try shortly ! www.saorimor.co.uk
Another wonderful day at Cockermouth.
Again the Auction Mart was chock full of inventivness, innovation and inspiration plus masses of colour but the quality that overarches all of these is the enthusiasm of everyone involved, it really is great to see and be a part of.
